Text: “Redeeming the time because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:16
This is more or less a follow up on our lesson yesterday.
Several years ago on seventeenth January 2006 I heard the Spirit of God said to
me “Young man, you cannot afford to waste the gift of God in you; you’ll stand
before God at the end of your life and give a detailed account of what you did
with my deposits in you”. I also heard that “Every second that passes brings
you closer to your grave; the only thing that deserves your time and energy is
God’s purpose for your life. You don’t have to be a slave to time, but there is
a time limit to your life. Be conscious of.”
On a daily basis there are diverse people and things calling
for our attention. Some may even be legitimate but at the end of the day what
really deserves our attention are things that are within the jurisdiction of
God’s plans and purpose for our lives.
Redeeming the time in our anchor scripture simply means
taking track of our time to ensure they are used wisely and purposefully.
Highly successful and influential people around the world are men and women who
make the most of the twenty four hours of a day equally available to everyone.
Time is something that God gives to everyone in equal amount.
We have the same number of hours to make the most of our lives. A man is either
a success or a failure depending on what they do with their time. The richest
and the poorest in any community have the same number of hours. What makes the
difference is what each invests into their time. Time is an equal currency for
everyone; how each person spends their own is what differentiates between one
person and another.
We must consciously identify every source of distraction and
close every available door to them. The bulk of our day should be invested in
becoming all that God wants us to become. Whatever does not contribute to God’s
plans and purpose for your life is definitely taking you away from it. Be
conscious of what you do with your time. We don’t have all the time to satisfy
everyone and everything calling for your attention; we only have enough for our
destiny.
PRAYER:
Lord I receive the wisdom and the discipline required to make the most of my time. I separate myself today from everything and everyone not contributing to my destiny.
