MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR

Text: “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him (Gideon), and said unto him, the Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valor.” Judges 6:12

I’m sure God’s word has imparted you so much this month. Let’s close the month with this awesome lesson. Gideon had a unique divine visitation. The angel appeared to him and declared that he was a mighty man of valor. If you study the previous verse before this one above you’ll notice that Gideon was a farmer, he had never been to war before. This description would have been okay for someone like Goliath. Gideon was far from it. He could not figure out why he was referred to as a might man of valor.
If you read the passage on you’ll notice he actually protested why he was called that. The matter was even worse because his family was in a very bad shape. The most devastating experience of life is when we allow the circumstances of life to determine our self-image of ourselves. The damage in our environment should not become the damage of our souls. It becomes a big problem when the environment and the circumstances of our birth are damaged and then our souls are also damaged along.

God wanted to use Gideon in an extraordinary way, but he had to first of all deal with his self-perception of himself. It’s easy to believe that God is powerful, but it’s equally important for us to realize that God’s involvement in our lives makes us equally powerful.

The angel announced that God is with Gideon. The God factor neutralizes everything that might have been wrong in the past. Christ in us brings the reality of God into our lives. This brings us to an experience that is divine and heavenly. Whatever defines God is what defines us today. We can do the impossible and accomplish the unimaginable.

CONFESSION:
The life of God defines me today. The value on the blood of Jesus is what defines my value.
