GOD’S CORRECTION

Text: “My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction. For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.” Proverbs 3:11-12

One major responsibility of parents is to correct their children. Sometimes it involves some levels of been hard on the children. The mother of Ben Carson had to place some restrictions on him just to make sure he improved academically. Was it because he hated his son? Emphatically no! Those corrections of the mother made out of him the greatest Neurosurgeon.

Correction is actually a proof of love. This is also true of our relationship with God. He wants to correct us over and over again. So that the best can come out of our lives. Despising God’s correction is a wrong attitude to life. God will correct you on virtually every aspect of your life. We must be open and receptive to such corrections. If we are left to ourselves we’ll destroy ourselves. If a child is left alone he or she may never go to school, may never do assignments, and may never take bath for months. Correction is actually helping us to end up right in life. When a child despises correction the child is despising greatness. So also we are when we despise God’s correction. No one is too old to be corrected by God. If you are too old to be corrected then you are too old to be used of God.

God’s correction will come via his word as prompted by his Spirit from time to time and also through various authorities he has placed over us in life; Pastors, Parents, Teachers, Spouse etc.

God’s correction is not the same as condemnation. Correction is of God while condemnation is of the Devil. Welcome and embrace God’s correction, it’s for your own good. You are dangerous specie if no one can correct you. God’s correction for our lives will come from the teaching of God’s word and people he has placed over us in life. Embrace it as it comes!

PRAYER:
Lord I open my life to your correction. Re-order my steps from whatever I am doing wrong.
