Text: “And have not
obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed
me!” Proverbs 5:13
One of the people that has made irrevocable impact and
contributions in our lives are teachers. We were exposed to them from a tender
age. Apart from the home the next major impact on a child is the teachers. It’s
always a challenge for parents to convince a child contrary to what a teacher
said in school.
Teachers are instructors. They help us to find our bearing in
life. The only person that has not had a contact with a teacher is possibly an
illiterate who did not have any form of education; formal or informal. This is
also true in spiritual things. One of the core ministry gifts in the body of
Christ are teachers (Ephesians 4:11). These are spiritual leaders God has placed over
us that help us to find our bearing in God. If you read the previous verses
before our anchor scripture for today you will understand that there will be a
major deviation from the path of life if we ignore the instructions and the
reproof of the teachers that God has brought our way in life. If you recognise
a teacher God has placed on your life spend time listening to them on their
tapes or books. It will enrich your life. Proverbs 5:7-12.
The Holy Spirit is the ultimate teacher, but he also reaches out
to us through human vessels. Each time you read this material it is the voice
of a teacher reaching out to you. I have seen cases where people come to Church
week after week and do nothing about what they are taught. In so many cases you
find people do the right opposite.
The voice of teachers starting from the Holy Spirit is meant to
guide you in life. To help you avoid the pitfalls, to help you become all you
were meant to be. I hope you’ll obey their voice.
PRAYER:
Lord I open my ears more
than ever before to hear the voice of teachers you have used to teach me. I
receive a heart of obedience.
